NOVALIS
Area: 13,400 m² including 126 apartments and 8 shops
Résidence Novalis is situated in the heart of Brussels in Espace Nord. It was built to offset the office buildings (Phoenix and Hendrik Conscience) that were built by Codic along Boulevard du Roi Albert II, and contributes to the multifunctionality of Espace Nord. Confirming the interest in the neighbourhood’s urban renewal, the apartment building immediately became very popular not only thanks to its exceptional geographic location (close to the rail network, the metro and the grands boulevards) but also owing to the quality of the architecture and the landscaping, not to mention the materials used.
The Novalis building is arranged around a landscaped garden and contains 126 apartments and 8 local shops. There is an urban atmosphere on the street side: the range of materials used for the facades are a continuation of the neo-classical style of the nearby grands boulevards in the city centre. The architectural style on the garden side focuses on conviviality and diversity.
Novalis received a Mipim Award in 2000 as well as the Prix des Règles d’Or de l’Urbanisme in 2001.
